More than 180 nations set the goal of limiting global temperature increase to 1.5 °C, compared to pre-industrial levels. In order to meet this goal, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has reported the deployment of large scale “carbon-negative” cycles are needed by 2040. One type of carbon-negative technology that has generated significant interest is biomass energy production combined with carbon removal and storage (CRS), known as BiCRS. BiCRS has enormous potential to remove significant amounts of the greenhouse gas (GHG) carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere while producing renewable fuels and/or electricity.
The Clean Energy Systems oxy-fuel gas generator and OFT-J79 expander turbine are ideally suited to emergency start-up and peaking power plant applications. Conventional peaking power plants typically take 10 to 30 minutes or more to come online because of the need to warm up expensive NOx catalysts and bring the facility to its required operating temperature. CES power plants require less time to start up, cost less to run, and release effectively zero emissions to the atmosphere.
CES technology allows our customers to expand their perspective on economically attractive natural resources, whether it being stranded, marginal, contaminated, or traditionally uneconomic resources, or simply overcoming siting or permitting issues by providing self-sustained access to water, power, CO2, and more...
